This horse is a wonderful example of a child’s 19th century hand made stuffed
toy. He comes with a paper written in the year 1958 stating that this horse is
95 years old and was given to my father when he was a baby. On the other side
of the paper it just says Grammy Gingericks father. He is cotton stuffed and covered
in a tobacco brown cotton cloth. Early linen homespun threads form his beautiful
mane and tail and both are nice and full and he retains his dark brown button
eyes and applied cotton ears. It appears as if there was something around his
middle at one time because there is a one inch band showing wear, plus he has
a little tear in the covering of his lower front leg and a few faded spots. He
is in overall remarkable condition considering that he is 144 years old and was
a child’s toy. He is both machine and hand stitched and is 9 " long from head
to tail and 9 " high to the top of his head. $1250.00 |
