19th Century Blue Calico Blouse

This Lady’s early blouse is a beautifully detailed, nicely faded indigo calico. It features a simple collar with a single ruffle on the bodice and back edged with a narrow braid trim. The front is pleated at the neckline with a two button closure in the front. The back of the blouse is also pleated and pulled in at the waist where the same braid is used for trim. The blouse is lined with muslin trimmed in the same indigo calico. The lining has a three button closure. One of the buttons is missing. The long sleeves were once gathered at the wrist but with time the threads have loosened. This blouse is both treadle and hand stitched. The blouse was designed to be longer in the very front measuring about 20 ˝ " long and about 18 " long at the sides and back. $225.00
